THAT is the subtitle for the new book. It is all about being able to express ourselves without the intention of offending, criticizing, harming or excluding other people around us. It is taking into account those people who are left out and showing some concern for them. But our society doesn’t allow it. The odd one, the different one, the shy one, the new one; they all represent a new element outside of what we may consider normal or standard, and that is worth fearing, isn’t it? There is a saying in Spain that says, “It is better to have a poor acquaintance than to get to know a new friend.” It may not be a true statement in what it says, but it truly describes how people act when it concerns a new face. Just join together with people you already know and bully by words or by rejection or by force the one who is different, the one who is odd, the one who is shy and the one who is new.
Operation Teen Author is about making a statement! It IS OK just to be yourself and to allow others that same prerogative! But we need some teens who are willing to stand up and be counted! Operation Teen Author is an opportunity to express yourself. A very unique opportunity to be taught by some very influential people on a private basis, that is to the Operation Teen Authors only! So don’t be afraid to speak up, fill in the application by writing 150 - 300 words why you should be chosen to participate. Do it NOW!

Welcome prospective participants! This is your casting call, your audition, your chance to participate in the First Edition of Operation Teen Author!! Make the best of it. There will only be 50 lucky teenagers selected and NO MORE. (At least for this year.) Believe me, though the first year will be the best. Next year will be streamlined and without as much personal attention. You need to convince the staff of Team Leaders to select you to be on their team! So put your best foot forward and write to convince. It need to be between 150 - 300 words answering some of the following questions:
Why should OTA choose you?
What personal characteristics do you already possess would make you an excellent choice for this project?
Can you be part of a team? What is it that makes you a good choice?
How can you show your willingness to do as your Team Leader instructs you?
What things have you accomplished to show your creativity and ability to get things done?
What will you do with the knowledge and skills you gain as a participant?
These are just a few things that you can include. Not all of them have to be answered. Its up to you! Your creativity counts but let us know why you should be chosen. Whining won’t do, because we don’t have a violin to play “My heart bleeds for you.” Be determined, be creative, be expressive and be chosen! And good luck!
